BPM Interview:

Blu Peter, one of the countries Top DJ/Producers on the Trance Scene, has a chat with Mad Iccy prior to his UK tour.

Iccy

Who or what first got you interested in Dance Music and the Trance scene in particular?

Blu Peter

I've always been into Dance Music and into Trance before there was a scene (as far as I knew) I am a natural Trancey Person and enjoy trancing others out.

Iccy

As you seem to be all over the place at once how do you find time to get in the studio?

Blu Peter

Tuesdays and Wednesdays are good days for the studio, clubs tend to be Friday to Sunday.

Iccy

So who or what are your main influences musically?

Blu Peter

Electronic Pop as a kid (late 70s early 80s), also Disco.

Iccy

Where did you play your first DJ set and how did it go?

Blu Peter

Apart from after-club chill-out parties the first proper gig was "Garage" at Heaven (3 girls were dancing around their handbags and I got the job).

Iccy

Is there anyone you would really like to work with that you haven't yet?

Blu Peter

Zoe Ball.

Iccy

So, what is on the agenda for the future?

Blu Peter

Lots of studio work, projects under various aliases in lots of different styles.

Iccy

And where do you see your album taking you?

Blu Peter

Hopefully it will change peoples perception of me.

Iccy

Do you think the Dance Music scene has got better or worse over the last couple of years? Personally I have found that the scene has fragmented and that people now have to work with a far wider outlook on the whole scene?

Blu Peter

More people play a similar style so to stand out you really have to have an edge.

Iccy

What do you think of the Southwest Scene or what you have seen of it?

Blu Peter

I like the Southwest scene it has some excellent DJ's and the clubbers are amongst the best (shame it is so far).

Iccy

What can we be expecting to hear in Plymouth when you come down next month?

Blu Peter

House, Funky Groovy Techno building into a high and I'm going to mess with your mind - The best night of your life.

Iccy

Have you had much feedback regarding your tour and how does it look?

Blu Peter

It starts on the 12th, I'm looking forward to it. And no cancellations as yet - Good Sign.
