Album Cover Various - United Kingdom Of Punk-The Hardcore Years (MCI)

This compilation is cool because it contains both the fast and noisy shit I loved when I was thirteen as well as the slower stuff I was smart enough to appreciate when I got older. Included here are tracks from Angelic Upstarts, Anti-Nowhere League, Gbh, Addicts, Peter and The Test Tube Babies, and Discharge, to name a few-definitely a well-rounded view of what was happening during the second wave of English punk rock. It's just too bad there's just no positive way to reproduce the impact poverty and Margaret Thatcher had on the quality of Britain's music scene during the '80s, or Ronald Reagan's influence on the same in the US.
