Mundy -Jelly Legs (Sony)

Mundy. From Birr of all places. Well, when it rains it pours, and Mundy has enough tunes in his backpack to unleash a flood.

The singles To You I Bestow and Life's a Cinch may be known to you already, but that's just the tip of the iceberg. Jelly Legs is a rich plethora of unique folk poetry and finely crafted pop songs. Gin and Tonic Sky and Springtown are at once parochial and universal, painting in words the eternal in personal, transient moments.

The album does lag in places, however. Sometimes one gets the feeling Mundy is trying too hard to be as honest and profound as his influences Dylan and Young. It does, at least, point to the emergence of a new and rare talent. Well worth checking out.
